Our gallery in Leonardtown is a dedicated space for supporting and showcasing local artists. We are committed to fostering the growth of our vibrant artistic community.
About our Gallery
This gallery was established as a program by the St. Mary's County Arts Council with the mission of supporting and promoting local artists.
By offering dedicated spaces for artists to exhibit and sell their creations, the Arts Council aims to foster a thriving arts community and provide artists with greater exposure within their own region.
This program not only enables artists to reach new audiences but also allows local residents and visitors to engage with and purchase unique, locally-made artwork.
Gallery Location: 22660 Washington St. Leonardtown, MD 20650

Please email 5 to 7 images of your work to: gallery@smcart.org with “(your name) Gallery Interest” in subject line. Please make sure these are pieces that are in your current inventory.
Your images will be reviewed at our next staff meeting with a reply sent to you within a day or two following our meeting. Our meetings are generally every other week, allow up to 14 days or so for the review process.
If you are accepted to the Gallery, we will make an appointment for you to come by with your work to be reviewed in person with final selections of your pieces made at that time.
If your work is not accepted, we will also notify you within the same time frame. Usually artwork is not accepted because we are at capacity for a certain type of media or work is considered to be too similar to current items.

Community Show Wall
Join us at our monthly community gallery shows, where local talent takes center stage! Our shop provides an inviting platform for artists who may not wish to commit to a full-time gallery presence, offering them the opportunity to submit pieces for each month's unique, themed show. Keep an eye on our Calls for Art for a chance to participate. We also host receptions for these shows every First Friday of the month, where you can meet the artists, enjoy their work, and connect with our vibrant creative community.
