Southern MD Folklife Workshop - History of Moonshining in St. Mary’s County

  • Pier 450 48342 Wynne Road Ridge, MD, 20680 United States (map)

A century ago, the United States went dry and the market for illegal liquor exploded across the country. But one small, unlikely county became a prolific producer of moonshine that spread across the eastern seaboard: St. Mary's County.

Join St. Mary's College alums Jack Darrell, '18, and Alex Weber, '17, as they discuss their reporting on the characters, circumstances, and wild stories of moonshining in St. Mary's County.
