2025 MD Arts Summit Adventures Part 1!
The Maryland Arts Summit, organized by the Maryland Citizens for the Arts, is a statewide conference presented by and for the Maryland arts sector.
This amazing annual two-day event is designed for Arts Advocates, Arts Educators & Teaching Artists, Independent Artists, Arts Organizations, Youth, Community Stakeholders, Arts, and Entertainment Districts, County Arts Agencies of Maryland, Public Artists, Boards of Directors, Folklife Artists, and anyone else who has an interest in attending.
Artist scholarships and community based pricing were available to make sure that finances were not a barrier to attendance. Virtual options were also offered.
This year featured two full days packed with workshops and sessions, a keynote speech by Kiki Wilson of Out40, networking with other creatives from across the state, free professional headshots, an evening reception and public art unveiling, and much more.
Also included were opportunities to meet with staff from the Maryland State Arts Council and Maryland Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, breakfast and lunch on both days, and much more!
DAY 1 - Leaving St. Mary’s County VERY early on June 17th, our staff arrived just in time to find the Center for Performing Arts at Prince George’s Community College. After check in and breakfast, we found seats in the Proscenium Theater, and had time to peruse the Summit booklet.
The Maryland Arts Summit is a fun event full of like-minded people. The Opening Plenary & Welcome session included greetings from the Maryland Citizens for the Arts, a keynote speech by Kiki Wilson, and various performances.
Breakout Session Time! Attendees selected from a choice of four or five options for each session. Six amazing breakout sessions and workshops were offered over the two-day event!
The morning of Day 1 wrapped up with lunch and free headshots with Dr. Ceylon Mitchell of M3 Mitchell Media & Marketing. We also had a chance to say hello to the very busy staff from Maryland Citizens for the Arts!
What would lunch be without shopping?! The on-site Artist Bazaar featured local artists and their work in a wide variety of media. Next year’s bazaar artist could be YOU!
After two more breakout sessions, our Day One ended with a short drive to the Downtown Largo Metro Station for a very special event. Learn more here about this adventure!
Day Two! Three more wonderful breakout sessions, plus a Closing Plenary later on.
We look forward to the MD Arts Summit every year, not only for the scheduled activities and events, but also for the endless networking opportunities. It was a pleasure to meet so many amazing people pictured here, plus so many more!
